I cannot usefully comment on the question of expenditure on Police.

There is one point I note in respect of recurrent expenditure on Uniform. On page 25 of the memorandum the second paragraph states that part of the expense is due to the failure to fulfil indents placed in the previous year. Apart from the question of delay in supplying uniform it can, I think, be assumed that as money previously authorised for this purpose had not been spent there must have been a corresponding saving on former Estimates.
